【Financial News Jeju = Reporter Jung Yong-bok】 All 15 women in Jeju who received training in artificial intelligence (AI) content production have begun commercializing their work by launching individual businesses or establishing a cooperative.
According to Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and Halla Women’s Saeil Center on the 2nd, 10 of the 15 graduates of the AI Premium Creator Maester Course launched individual businesses, while the remaining five established a women’s community cooperative.
The course’s key achievement was that participants went beyond obtaining qualifications or creating portfolios and actually went on to launch businesses.
Participants were selected through a three-stage process that included evaluations of their video productions and business plans, as well as assessments by external AI experts. From April 16 to July 10, they completed 236 hours of training in generative AI, video planning and production, character intellectual property development, and promotional and marketing content creation.
Works produced during the course also achieved results at domestic and international competitions. At the K-CULTURE AI International Film Festival (KCAIF), one work received a Bronze Award in the AI Experimental Short Film category.
Winners at the 2026 Jeju AI Global Film Festival pose for a commemorative photo. Graduates of the Jeju AI content training program received the Grand Prize in the Masterclass Session and the Excellence Award in the Pongdang Family Session, while four works were nominated. At the 2026 Jeju Global AI Film Competition, they received the Grand Prize in the Masterclass Session and the Excellence Award in the Pongdang Family Session. Four entries were also nominated. They received an Encouragement Award at the 2026 Green LOHAS ESG Content Competition.
Post-course support focuses on helping the participants establish themselves during the early stages of entrepreneurship. Halla Women’s Saeil Center continues to support the graduates with promotional video production, new business development, and commercialization. It also connects them with local companies to jointly produce character IP content and provides support for refining business models and management consulting.
Some participants have expanded their roles beyond AI content production to become educators. In cooperation with the Jeju Institute for Lifelong Education, the center is also connecting them with opportunities to work as professional instructors for four AI-related courses at Jeju Residents’ University.
The case has drawn attention because it combines AI training, content production, and commercialization into a single program rather than treating AI as a separate technical subject in regional vocational education. In particular, the curriculum includes outputs that can be sold in the actual market or used for collaboration with companies, such as videos, character IP, and promotional content.
Lee Eun-young, Jeju Province’s director of gender equality and women’s policy, said, "This is an example of women turning their AI content-production capabilities into actual startups and professional activities. We will expand the training of women professionals in new industries and vocational education tailored to local demand."
