[Financial News] Companies and institutions active in various fields, including social value and resource circulation, have come together to promote the sustainable development of the Busan community and realize environmental, social and governance (ESG) values.
World Furniture said on the 2nd that the launch ceremony of the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Green Coexistence ESG Network was held on the afternoon of the 29th of last month in a conference room at Busan Social Campus On.
The newly launched network is a regional cooperation platform established by organizations that have worked in fields such as the environment, social economy and green consumption across Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam. It was created to move beyond the independent activities of individual companies and institutions, closely connect the participants’ experience and resources, identify practical joint projects, and develop an ESG cooperation model that local communities can experience firsthand.
The launch ceremony brought together 24 ESG practitioners from various sectors across the region, including Kim Ju-yong, CEO of World Furniture, and Kim Sung-keun, chairman of ESG Citizens’ Movement Headquarters. Through its participation in the network, World Furniture plans to embed ESG values throughout its business activities, including the production and consumption of environmentally friendly and green products, resource circulation and carbon-neutral practices.
The network will continue educational programs to raise awareness in the local community, including regular information exchanges, the sharing of best practices and an ESG lecture for all employees scheduled for the 13th. In particular, it is expected to play a key role in building a regional ESG cooperation ecosystem by connecting activities related to the environment and social responsibility—areas that are difficult to pursue independently—with the expertise of the participating organizations.
