[Financial News] An expert forum will be held to discuss in depth strategies for Busan's development through the construction of Gadeok Island New Airport, as well as the development and advancement of future airport infrastructure involving artificial intelligence (AI), smart technologies, and urban air mobility (UAM).
The Korea Airport Infrastructure Society said on the 2nd that it will jointly host the 2026 Korea Airport Infrastructure Inaugural Forum (pictured) with Busan Metropolitan Corporation and others at BPEX from 2 to 5 p.m. on the 7th.
The Korea Airport Infrastructure Society is an academic organization authorized by MOLIT last April to be established, with the aim of advancing academic and technological development in airport infrastructure and strengthening national competitiveness.
The society aims to conduct academic research and propose policies across all areas of airport infrastructure, including civil engineering, architecture, the environment, urban planning, transportation, and logistics. It also seeks to promote exchange and cooperation among industry, academia, research institutions, and government.
The inaugural forum, held under the theme "Strategies for Building Sustainable, Safe, Future-Oriented Airport Infrastructure," is expected to serve as a platform for exchange and cooperation among experts in related fields.
Sung-Gyo Chung, an emeritus professor at Dong-A University, will deliver the first presentation on "A Geotechnical Examination for the Successful Construction of Gadeok Island New Airport."
Han Yong Jeon, an emeritus professor at Inha University, will then present on "An AI-Based Integrated Platform System for Airport Construction Materials and Life-Cycle Sustainability."
Jin Hee Park, a professor at Korea Maritime & Ocean University (KMOU), will address "Strategies for Expanding and Advancing Gadeok Island New Airport to Accommodate Future Air Transportation."
Seong-gi Jeong, president of the Busan Port Future Policy Research Institute, will present "A Strategy for Developing Western Busan through the Construction of Gadeok Island New Airport."
Yun-tae Kim, a professor at Pukyong National University, will chair the panel discussion. Jong-chul Im, an emeritus professor at Pusan National University, Seong-pil Hwang, a senior researcher at the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT), and Jae-gwon Kim, chairman of the Asia Eco-Friendly Resources Association, are scheduled to serve as discussants.
