[Financial News]  Controversy has erupted after a male passenger on a Chinese airline flight vehemently protested when a female flight attendant bumped his elbow during in-flight service, ultimately prompting her to kneel and apologize.
According to recent reports by Hong Kong's Ming Pao and Sing Tao Daily, an incident occurred on a China Eastern Airlines flight from Hefei to Dalian on the 28th of last month. Flight attendant A bumped the elbow of passenger B, who was asleep, while pushing a cart to serve beverages.
A immediately apologized, but B reacted angrily. Although A repeatedly apologized, the situation did not quickly subside, and she eventually knelt before B to apologize.
Another passenger aboard the same flight recorded the incident, and the video quickly spread through social media and other platforms.
The passenger who filmed the video said that A knelt and apologized two or three times, but B continued to voice his complaints.
As the controversy grew, China Eastern Airlines issued an official statement on the 30th of last month, saying, "The flight attendant immediately apologized and checked on the passenger's condition, but the passenger became highly agitated and continued making harsh and aggressive remarks." The airline added, "He threatened to kick the flight attendant and demanded to go to a hospital together after landing, leaving her deeply shocked."
China Eastern Airlines said that after the plane landed, medical staff examined the passenger and found no apparent injuries or swelling. They determined that no additional treatment was necessary.
China Eastern Airlines stressed, "We are reviewing the entire course of the incident with the parties involved and securing evidence. We will strictly uphold the bottom line for aviation safety and protect our employees' professional dignity in accordance with laws and regulations."
