KOSPI Composite Index Opens Lower, Edges Higher; KOSDAQ Reclaims 900 Level [Financial News Morning Market Update]

[Financial News] South Korean stocks are rising after falling early in the session on the 2nd. The KOSPI Composite Index is trading slightly higher ahead of the 7,000 level, while KOSDAQ has reclaimed the 900 level.
As of 9:40 a.m., the KOSPI Composite Index was up 6.60 points, or 0.09%, from the previous trading session at 6,977.95. The index opened at 6,938.27, down 0.47% from the previous session, then fell as low as 6,927.88 before turning higher. Its intraday high was 6,991.55, approaching the 7,000 level.
KOSDAQ was up 6.40 points, or 0.72%, from the previous session at 900.69. After opening lower at 893.22, it rebounded to reach an intraday high of 903.81. The index continued its upward trend after surging 4.48% the previous day.
Large-cap semiconductor stocks moved in opposite directions. At the same time, Samsung Electronics was trading at 274,750 won, down 0.45% from the previous session. SK hynix was up 0.16% at 1,836,000 won.
The chemical sector led the gains on the sector board, rising 1.77%. Metals gained 1.04%, machinery and equipment 1.02%, telecommunications 0.96%, and medical and precision instruments 0.86%. Transportation and warehousing fell 0.08%, while transportation equipment and parts declined 0.09%.
