[Financial News, Andong—Kim Jang-uk, staff writer] NH NongHyup Bank Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters and Gyeongsangbuk-do Development Corporation conducted joint farm labor assistance for farms facing labor shortages during the harvest season, drawing attention.
As the harvest season got fully underway, NH NongHyup Bank Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters and Gyeongsangbuk-do Development Corporation visited farms struggling with labor shortages and volunteered to help.
The two organizations jointly arranged the volunteer effort to provide practical assistance to farms facing a difficult period due to labor shortages during the harvest season and rising labor costs.
About 20 employees from the two organizations, along with Kwon Ki-bong, chairman of Nam Andong NongHyup, visited an apple farm in Gumi-ri, Iljik-myeon, Andong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, on the first and helped with the harvest.
Kim Jin-uk, head of NH NongHyup Bank Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters, said, "I am pleased that we could join forces with Gyeongsangbuk-do Development Corporation to bring warmth to rural communities during the harvest season, when helping hands are desperately needed. NH NongHyup Bank in Gyeongbuk will continue to consider the difficulties faced by local farms and spare no effort in providing sustained support so that we can grow together."
The Iljik-myeon area of Andong-si, where the farm is located, suffered extensive damage from a series of natural disasters, including a recent wildfire and heavy rains. Employees from both organizations visited local farms that had been deeply affected, worked alongside the farmers and offered encouragement, further enhancing the meaning of regional cooperation.
Lee Jae-hyeok, president of Gyeongsangbuk-do Development Corporation, stated, "I hope this farm labor assistance will be a small but meaningful help to farms struggling after the heavy rains. We will continue to carefully monitor the difficulties faced by disaster-stricken areas and provide practical support wherever it is needed."
