[Financial News] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) plans to supply a total of 23,400 households in the Goyang Daegok Knowledge Convergence and Uiwang Ojeon-Wanggok public housing districts. The corporation aims to shorten the project timeline by about four months compared with standard procedures and begin housing construction in 2029.
According to LH on the 2nd, the two districts were included among candidate sites for new housing land in the Seoul metropolitan area in November 2024 as a follow-up to the “Measures to Expand Housing Supply.” After gathering residents’ opinions and completing other procedures, they were designated and publicly announced as public housing districts on the 22nd of last month. LH is serving as the project operator.
To accelerate the project schedule, LH ordered survey and design services in May this year to prepare the district plans, before the districts were designated, and completed the selection of service providers. It began procedures that are typically carried out only after district designation.
As a result, LH began preparing the district plans immediately after the designation notice was issued. It plans to apply for district plan approval in the first half of next year and complete permitting procedures by the second half after conducting impact assessments and other required processes.
The Goyang Daegok Knowledge Convergence District is a project to supply 9,400 households across approximately 1,994,000 square meters in the Daejang-dong area of Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province. Five railway lines—including Metropolitan Area Rapid Transit Line A (GTX-A), Seoul Subway Line 3, the Gyeongui–Jungang Line, the Seohae Line and the Gyooe Line—pass through nearby Daegok Station. The district is also close to major arterial roads in the Seoul metropolitan area.
The Uiwang Ojeon-Wanggok District is being developed across approximately 1,876,000 square meters in the Ojeon-dong and Wanggok-dong areas of Uiwang-si, with 14,000 households. It borders Gyeongsu-daero and the Gwacheon–Bongdam Urban Expressway. Uiwang City Hall Station on the Indeogwon–Dongtan double-track railway, which is scheduled to open in 2029, is planned to be built about 700 meters away.
