Hoban Group said on the 2nd that it had nominated Kim Dai-heon as chair of the board of Hoban Construction and Song Jong-min, vice chairman and CEO of Taihan Cable & Solution, as group senior vice chairman and CEO of Hoban Construction.
As chair of the group's board, Kim will take a more active role in pursuing the company's mid- to long-term growth strategies. Drawing on his broad business experience accumulated as the group's president overseeing planning, he will respond swiftly to major issues amid an uncertain business environment and participate in key management decisions related to formulating and executing strategies for the group's future vision.
As senior vice chairman, Song will focus on enhancing the competitiveness of the group's major businesses and strengthening cooperation and synergies among its affiliates. An experienced executive who has worked across the group's key businesses, Song led growth at Taihan Cable & Solution by expanding investment in high-value-added businesses, including ultra-high-voltage and subsea cables, while strengthening the company's global business base. As CEO of Hoban Construction, he plans to expand urban redevelopment and maintenance projects and lead large-scale development projects in Seoul and the greater capital region, thereby strengthening the company's management fundamentals.
Hoban Group also promoted Kim Jun-seok, vice president at Taihan Cable & Solution, and Jeong Seong-gi, vice president at Hoban Industries, to president, respectively, and nominated them as CEOs of their respective affiliates. Kang Sin-ju, an executive vice president at Hoban Hotel & Resort, was promoted to vice president and nominated as the affiliate's CEO. Byeon Bu-seop, head of the construction safety division at Hoban Construction, was promoted to president and will establish a co-CEO structure with Song. The executive appointments will be finalized after the relevant procedures, including board approvals at each affiliate, are completed.
President Kim Jun-seok has contributed to Hoban Group's major mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and business diversification efforts. Going forward, he will expand the group's business base in key markets such as the United States and Europe and turn large-scale investments in high-voltage direct current (HVDC) and subsea cables into tangible results. President Jeong will expand Hoban Industries' renewable energy businesses, including wind and solar power generation, while pursuing entry into urban data center construction and strengthening its engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) capabilities. An official from Hoban Group said, "Through professional managers at each affiliate, we will focus on enhancing the competitiveness of existing businesses and generating results. Centered on a strengthened board, we will support responsible decision-making and swift execution as we pursue the group's sustainable growth."
