【Financial News, Jeju—Reporter Jeong Yong-bok】 Jeju Province will see falling morning temperatures and daytime highs in the mid-20s this weekend and holiday, creating a wide diurnal temperature range. Seongpanak on Hallasan will see its morning temperature fall to 11°C on Saturday the 3rd, while Sunday the 4th will be mostly cloudy with daytime highs of 24–25°C.
According to the Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 2nd, Jeju Province will have occasional clouds today, with daytime highs expected to reach 22–25°C. On the 3rd, the start of the weekend, skies will be mostly clear before gradually becoming cloudy from the afternoon.
Morning lows are expected to be 17°C in Jeju and Gosan, 18°C in Seogwipo and Seongsan, and 19°C in the Chujado Islands. Daytime highs will rise to 24°C in Jeju and Seongsan and 25°C in Seogwipo and Gosan.
Temperatures will fall further in the mid-mountain and mountainous areas. Morning temperatures are expected to drop to 14°C in Sancheondan and Hannam and 11°C in Seongpanak. During the day, temperatures will rise to 22°C in Sancheondan and Hannam and 19°C in Seongpanak, with a diurnal temperature range of around 8°C.
Those planning outdoor activities or a visit to Hallasan should prepare an extra layer, taking into account that temperatures in the mountainous areas will be lower than in coastal areas.
On the holiday, the 4th, skies across Jeju Province will be mostly cloudy. Coastal areas are expected to see morning lows of 19–20°C and daytime highs of 24–25°C. Morning temperatures will fall to 17°C in Sancheondan and Hannam and 15°C in Seongpanak.
There is no significant rain forecast for the weekend, but the weather will change after the holiday.
The 5th will be mostly cloudy, with clouds occasionally increasing from the afternoon. Occasional rain is expected in parts of Jeju Province from early morning through the morning. Daytime highs in coastal areas will reach 23–24°C, slightly lower than over the weekend.
People should be cautious of high waves through the morning of the 2nd. Wave heights in the waters off Jeju Island are expected to reach 1.0–3.0 m that morning, with waves in the waters off western Jeju Island and the southwestern inner offshore waters forecast to reach up to 3.0 m. Waves will gradually subside from the afternoon.
Sea conditions are also expected to remain relatively stable over the weekend. Wave heights in the waters off Jeju Island are forecast at 0.5–2.0 m on the 3rd and 0.5–1.5 m on the 4th.
The Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration urged people to take care of their health and manage their body temperature during outdoor activities such as hiking, noting that temperatures will be low and the difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures will be large from the 2nd through the morning of the 3rd.
