[Financial News] A restaurant owner in her 20s said she was bewildered after a delivery driver entered her restaurant and filled a container with water from the dispenser despite there being no delivery order. The driver had not come to make a delivery and took the water without asking permission.
According to JTBC's "Sageonbanjang" on the 1st, the restaurant operated by a woman identified as A regularly receives many delivery orders and is frequently visited by delivery drivers.
The incident occurred after the busy period had ended, while A was taking a short break. A delivery driver entered the restaurant, immediately went to the water dispenser and began filling a container he had brought with him.
When A appeared bewildered, the delivery driver reportedly said, "I'm a delivery driver, so I'll take some water."
A protested that he should at least have asked for permission before filling his container. The delivery driver then sighed, apologized and left the restaurant.
A pointed out, "I have no problem with delivery drivers taking water when they come to pick up food. But coming just to get water when they aren't here for a delivery and not even asking permission—that's not good manners, is it?"
The panelists appearing on the program also agreed with A's argument that the driver should have asked for permission beforehand.
Attorney Jihoon Park said, "Looking at the dashcam footage, he hurried in without even a smile and immediately started filling his container. He was also wearing something like a mask, wasn't he? From the owner's perspective, it must have been uncomfortable." He added, "If he had said something before taking the water, would anyone have refused?"
Most viewers also responded that the driver should have asked for permission first. Alongside comments that the behavior was "rude," others said, "But if he had asked for permission, I think he could have gotten enough water."
