[Financial News] The Korea Authority of Land & Infrastructure Safety has drawn a line under controversy surrounding a group screening of the film 'The Assassins,' saying it was not an organization-wide event. The screening was not an official event organized by the authority. Rather, it was a value-added service offered by Mirae Asset Securities, one of the authority's retirement pension operators, under its pension management contract with the agency. The authority also explained that attendance was decided by lottery because only 30 tickets were available.
According to the Korea Authority of Land & Infrastructure Safety on the 1st, the event was arranged as a value-added service that Mirae Asset Securities, one of the authority's eight retirement pension operators, had promised when the contract was signed. The authority said it had neither planned nor paid for the event.
The authority informed employees of the viewing opportunity proposed by Mirae Asset Securities on September 15, before the film's release. However, because only 30 tickets had been secured, 16 employees were selected to attend through a lottery held on September 21. Fourteen of them received two tickets each, while the remaining two received one ticket each.
