[Financial News] At World Island Exhibition Yeosu Korea, which had promised to improve its food offerings after controversy erupted over an inadequate soy sauce-marinated crab set meal, it has now been revealed that a family of visitors was affected after undercooked dakgangjeong was sold.
MBC reported on the 30th of last month that Visitor A, in their 40s, experienced stomach pain and diarrhea after eating dakgangjeong sold at a food truck during the Chuseok holiday period.
A said that after eating the dakgangjeong with their children, they and their two elementary-school-aged children experienced stomach pain and diarrhea. A video filmed at the time shows dakgangjeong with a bright red interior, suggesting that it was barely cooked, with the meat appearing soft when pressed with a fork.
The food truck in question reportedly sold more than 80 portions of dakgangjeong that day alone. The company was reported to have explained to MBC that the food appeared not to have been properly cooked while substitute workers were brought in during the Chuseok holiday period.
This came just one week after the organizing committee promised to improve food offerings at the exhibition following controversy over the inadequate portions of a soy sauce-marinated crab set meal sold for 14,900 won. After the controversy erupted, the committee said on the 18th of last month that it had conducted a comprehensive inspection of all restaurants operating at the exhibition and would continue improving services by diversifying side dishes and strengthening quality control.
