[Financial News] The K-Heritage Channel, which features the sounds of artisans at work and landscapes associated with national heritage, has surpassed 2 million YouTube subscribers. Starting this month, new content featuring singer DAWN, Yoon Doo-joon and rock band KARDI will be released in stages.
According to the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation on the 1st, the K-Heritage Channel, jointly operated by the Korea Heritage Service and the foundation, surpassed 2 million subscribers on the 7th of last month. Launched in 2010, the channel surpassed 1 million subscribers in 2023 and received YouTube’s Gold Button.
The foundation’s official operating records show that the channel surpassed 100,000 subscribers in March 2020. Compared with its achievement of 2 million subscribers this time, its subscriber base has grown roughly 20-fold in about six and a half years.
Its signature content, “Intangible Heritage ASMR,” captures the sounds of artisans’ handwork and working processes. “K-Archive Content” documents national heritage through 8K ultra-high-definition video and spatial audio. The channel has also presented “Yesung’s National Heritage Walk,” created in collaboration with a K-pop singer.
In “Intangible Heritage: DAWN-seungja,” which will be released this month, DAWN visits artisans of intangible heritage to learn traditional skills and their underlying spirit. “Capture Korea” is a program in which actor and singer Yoon Doo-joon experiences and introduces national heritage sites across the country.
The channel will also release the “Ganggangsullae” edition, the first video in the national heritage advertising project “One Across Korea.” In collaboration with KARDI, it reinterprets Ganggangsullae, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, through rock music and an advertising video.
A commemorative video featuring congratulatory interviews and key videos will be released on the 2nd to mark the channel’s surpassing 2 million subscribers. A comment event will also run from the 2nd to the 18th. Among subscribers who leave congratulatory messages and comments about their impressions on the commemorative video, 500 will be selected by lottery to receive traditional-culture products.
Lee Gwiyoung, president of the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation, emphasized its role as a public archive that preserves and documents national heritage, saying, "We will continue to present diverse K-Heritage content that combines a modern sensibility with broad appeal and communicate with people around the world."
