【Financial News | Jeonnam-Gwangju = Hwang Tae-jong, Reporter】School employees affiliated with the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City Office of Education can now check for conflicts of interest themselves before starting work.
The Jeonnam-Gwangju Special City Office of Education developed and began operating the 'Wise Integrity Life Bot' using generative artificial intelligence (AI), enabling users to search laws, education office directives and authoritative interpretations by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC).
According to the Jeonnam-Gwangju Special City Office of Education on the 1st, the 'Integrity Life Bot' was developed to prevent violations of reporting and recusal obligations that may arise from a lack of understanding of the Act on the Prevention of Conflict of Interest Related to Duties of Public Servants. It also helps users more easily check complex laws and procedures in the field.
The 'Integrity Life Bot' is particularly meaningful because Song Jeong-ran, a senior official in the central office's audit department, used generative AI to complete everything from planning to web implementation rather than outsourcing its development.
"After seeing cases in which employees were inadvertently flagged in audits because they did not fully understand the laws and procedures in the field, I realized the need for a preliminary checking tool," Song Jeong-ran said. "I hope it will help employees check matters themselves before handling their work and prevent disadvantages."
The 'Integrity Life Bot' is distinguished by its ability to search at once 278 documented authoritative interpretations by the ACRC, along with laws and education office directives that had previously been scattered across different sources.
Users can check whether a situation involves a conflict of interest by entering situations they may encounter in their actual work in everyday language on the website. In particular, the search results are divided into relevant provisions, related cases and education office directives, allowing public officials to immediately check the duties and exceptions they must observe, penalties for violations and required submission forms.
An official from the Jeonnam-Gwangju Special City Office of Education said, "Through the 'Integrity Life Bot,' we expect to strengthen preventive integrity administration, moving away from audits focused on detecting and punishing violations after the fact and toward an approach in which school employees check potential risks themselves before beginning their work."
The official added, "During the course of operations, we will continue to supplement it with new cases and consider developing support tools using generative AI in other integrity-related areas, such as the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act."
