[Financial News] Lotte Duty Free is expanding AI-powered services across the duty-free shopping experience by introducing an artificial intelligence (AI)-based product search feature.
According to industry sources on the 1st, Lotte Duty Free launched its AI Product Search service for members through its mobile application. Customers do not need to know the exact product name or search term. By entering their situation, preferences and desired conditions in a sentence, they can have AI analyze their intent and suggest suitable products.
Unlike conventional keyword searches, the service considers multiple conditions, including price range, purpose and preferences. Lotte Duty Free also offers AI-powered product recommendations based on customer behavior data, as well as product information summaries and review summaries.
Last July, the company introduced a shopping service powered by the generative AI platform ChatGPT. Within ChatGPT, users can search for products, view bestsellers and special deals, and receive personalized recommendations. Recommended products are linked to their purchase pages.
With the launch of this service, Lotte Duty Free plans to expand its use of AI throughout the shopping process, from product searches and recommendations to information checks and review browsing. The company also intends to broaden the technology's application to internal operations.
Yuyeon Kim, head of Lotte Duty Free's e-commerce division, said, "AI's role is not to do all the shopping on behalf of customers, but to make it easier for them to find, compare and choose products." Kim added, "We will continue to integrate AI throughout the duty-free shopping process and expand the shopping experience so that customers can discover products that suit them more easily and conveniently."
