[Financial News] EVSIS, LOTTE INNOVATE's electric vehicle charging subsidiary, announced on the 1st that it will participate in a demonstration of the automatic charging and payment service for electric vehicles (Plug & Charge, PnC) in public charging environments hosted by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment.
PnC is a next-generation charging technology that automatically authenticates the vehicle and charger and starts charging when a charging cable is connected to an electric vehicle. Users can begin charging immediately without tagging a membership card or completing separate authentication through a mobile app.
EVSIS has commercialized its PnC service on its proprietary operating platform. It is also strengthening its competitiveness in the global charging market by supplying charging solutions to North American charging point operators (CPOs), including EVCS and ChargeLab.
Through the demonstration, EVSIS established a foundation for expanding the PnC service beyond its own charging network to public charging infrastructure. It also implemented an authentication and security framework based on the international standard ISO 15118, covering the protection of authentication information, certificate management, and security across communication channels. This will enable the company to respond to security threats such as unauthorized access and the alteration or falsification of authentication information that may arise in PnC service environments.
During the service development process, EVSIS conducted compatibility tests on vehicles from six domestic and international electric vehicle brands, including Hyundai Motor, Kia, KG Mobility (KGM), Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW. The tests confirmed the feasibility of deploying PnC services across various vehicle environments and examined the potential to expand the service beyond specific manufacturers or vehicle models.
Following the public PnC technology demonstration, EVSIS plans to expand its integrated charging solutions business beyond charger operations to encompass vehicle authentication, charging services, and security technologies. Building on its experience operating its own charging network and platform, the company also plans to broaden opportunities to supply PnC solutions and pursue technological cooperation.
Oh Young-sik, CEO of EVSIS, said, "This demonstration is significant because it established a foundation for expanding the PnC service operated on our own charging network to public charging environments," adding, "Based on compatibility testing with vehicles from various electric vehicle brands, we will continue to provide reliable PnC services."
