Pukyong National University Shows a "Four-Year Rise" in Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings

[Financial News] Pukyong National University, led by President Bae Sang-hoon, ranked "1,001–1,200" in the 2027 THE World University Rankings, marking a steady rise over four years and moving the university up to sixth among national universities nationwide.
Times Higher Education, a global university rankings organization based in the United Kingdom, evaluated five key indicators—including educational conditions, the research environment, research quality, industry-academia collaboration, and internationalization—as well as 18 sub-indicators. It announced rankings for 2,297 universities across 118 countries and regions.
Pukyong National University first entered the rankings in 2024, placing in the "1,201–1,500" range in both the 2025 and 2026 rankings before moving up another band to "1,001–1,200" in the 2027 rankings.
Its domestic ranking also rose from 35th to 30th over the past three years and reached 28th this year. Among national universities nationwide, it tied with Chungnam National University for sixth place.
Pukyong National University improved its scores across all five key indicators in this year's evaluation, with the research environment indicator showing the sharpest increase.
The university has established a full-cycle support system for research while pursuing a transition to a research-centered university, including the creation of the Pukyong Flagship Research Institute.
Pukyong National University is also actively pursuing institutional transformation. Among its two campuses, it is expanding a global industry-academia collaboration platform centered on Yongdang Campus, while establishing AX Innovation University to respond to advanced fields and Global Innovation University dedicated to international students.
Based on the latest evaluation results, Pukyong National University plans to further strengthen its research competitiveness.
It also plans to enhance its global industry-academia collaboration and internationalization capabilities, while continuing educational and research innovation to lead in future advanced fields and rise to the ranks of world-class universities.
