[Financial News] Hanwha Investment & Securities is aiming to become a comprehensive financial investment business operator. To this end, it plans to raise up to KRW 900 billion in capital.
According to the securities industry on the 1st, Hanwha Investment & Securities held a board meeting on the 30th of last month and approved a KRW 500 billion third-party allotment paid-in capital increase and the issuance of hybrid securities worth up to KRW 400 billion. The measures are intended to improve financial soundness, facilitate entry into the comprehensive financial investment business, and establish the company as a leading financial institution in digital assets.
The paid-in capital increase will target Hanwha Asset Management, the largest shareholder, and Hanwha Life, the parent company of Hanwha Asset Management. The hybrid securities will be issued as privately placed perpetual bonds.
Hanwha Investment & Securities plans to use the additional capital to expand its asset management and investment capacity in core business areas, boost earnings, and strengthen its competitiveness in its primary business.
As it advances its capabilities in next-generation financial businesses, the company also plans to build an in-house digital asset platform. It will consider strategic partnerships with global companies needed to secure blockchain infrastructure.
