[Financial News Ulsan = Choi Su-sang, reporter] Ulsan’s largest fireworks display, the “2026 Ulsan Fireworks Festival,” will light up the night sky over Gangdong Pebble Beach in Buk-gu on Oct. 2.
According to Ulsan Metropolitan City on Oct. 1, the Ulsan Fireworks Festival, now in its fourth year, will feature a spectacular display of massive fireworks and a performance by 1,500 drones under the theme “The Beginning of a Flowing Garden, Pebbles.”
The fireworks display will follow the drone show, which begins at 8:30 p.m. Under the overarching narrative of “the story of pebbles in the sea traveling toward a dream garden,” the approximately 25-minute show will proceed in sequence: the introduction, “The Beginning of the Flow, the Sea”; 1bak, “Toward Utopia”; Act 2, “From Sea to River”; Act 3, “The Story There”; and Act 4, “The Garden of Dreams.”
Large aerial-shell fireworks of up to 12 inches will be launched from four barges anchored offshore. Alongside English lettering such as “Ulsan,” fireworks in a variety of colors will brilliantly decorate the dark East Sea beach, as if Ulsan’s dream were erupting toward the open ocean.
The large aerial-shell fireworks will reach heights of 250 to 300 meters or more and have a burst radius of 100 to 130 meters. They are the same size as those used at the Seoul International Fireworks Festival.
A music application will be available so visitors can listen to the fireworks’ background music even from distant viewing areas.
The preceding drone show will feature 1,500 drones depicting a whale awakening from a rock, an industrial city, AX-centered Ulsan, and the 2028 International Garden Expo.
Meanwhile, Ulsan Metropolitan City is sponsoring the event, while Kyungsang Ilbo is hosting and organizing it. Gangdong Coastal Road will be fully closed from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the day of the event. For visitors’ convenience, shuttle buses will depart from the parking lot along the Taehwagang River embankment in Nam-gu and from the Jung-gu Sports Complex. Seven city bus routes serving the event venue will also operate with increased frequency and extended service hours.
