[Financial News] Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) is working to promote Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management.
KOSHA signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea ESG Society on the 1st at KOSHA's Seoul Metropolitan Headquarters to promote mutually beneficial cooperation and ESG management in the occupational safety and health sector. The organizations aim to standardize the values and criteria of occupational safety and health in the social sector and raise the level of ESG management across the public and private sectors.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will jointly develop ESG evaluation indicators and guidelines tailored to occupational safety and health. They will also cooperate on sharing information and infrastructure to improve companies' safety and health standards, developing and distributing content to prevent occupational accidents and establish ESG management, and supporting mutually beneficial cooperation to narrow gaps in safety and health standards.
KOSHA plans to provide information from its occupational accident prevention programs, while the Korea ESG Society will share with KOSHA the research findings from its development of ESG evaluation indicators and guidelines tailored to occupational safety and health.
The two organizations also plan to establish a mutually beneficial cooperation model by jointly hosting academic conferences and safety culture campaigns, as well as providing consulting to help small and medium-sized enterprises with insufficient in-house safety and health capabilities establish safety and health management systems.
Kim Hyun-jung, president of KOSHA, said, "Safety-centered ESG management is now an unavoidable demand of our times. By combining KOSHA's specialized data with the society's multidisciplinary research capabilities, we will lay a solid foundation for raising occupational safety and health standards throughout our society."
Ko Moon-hyun, president of the Korea ESG Society, said, "As a leading global society specializing in ESG, we are pleased to systematize the value of occupational safety and health academically together with KOSHA. We hope this agreement will become an exemplary cooperation model that can be felt in the field and, furthermore, take Korea's ESG management culture to the next level."
