Kia Sportage Outperforms Mazda CX-5 in German Auto Bild Comparison Test

[Financial News] Kia Sportage, Kia's compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), received a favorable evaluation from a German automotive magazine.
On the 1st, industry sources said the Kia Sportage outscored the Mazda CX-5 in a gasoline compact SUV comparison test conducted by German automotive magazine Auto Bild in September. In July, it also ranked first overall among four models, including the Mazda CX-5, Ford Kuga and Citroën C5 Aircross, in a compact SUV comparison test by German automotive magazine Auto Motor und Sport (AMS).
Auto Bild is considered one of Germany's three major automotive magazines. The test, conducted in September, scored the vehicles in seven categories: body, convenience, powertrain, driving performance, connected car, environmental performance and economy. The Kia Sportage scored 569 points in total, beating the Mazda CX-5's 552 points by 17. It led in five categories, excluding connected car and environmental performance.
Auto Bild described the Kia Sportage as "a compact SUV that offers a long warranty and is convenient for everyday use." In its overall assessment of the two vehicles, it added, "Kia feels slightly more modern overall."
A Kia official said, "These results are significant because they recognize the Kia Sportage's well-rounded quality across various aspects, including driving performance, convenience and economy, all of which are closely connected to everyday life."
Meanwhile, the Kia Sportage was consecutively named What Car?'s "Best Family SUV" for 2025 and "Family SUV of the Year" for 2026. It also previously won the Best Hybrid Model category selected by U.S. News & World Report and Cars.com in the United States in 2026.
