[Financial News] The fact that actor Koo Kyo-hwan, 44, and director Yi Okseop, 39, a long-standing couple in the film industry, registered their marriage four years ago has only recently come to light.
Yonhap News Agency and other outlets reported on the 1st that Namoo Actors, Koo Kyo-hwan's agency, said, "Koo Kyo-hwan and Yi Okseop registered their marriage in 2022 and became a married couple."
The agency added, "The two have remained by each other's side and continued their lives together as each other's closest colleagues and family. We will continue working hard so that they can greet audiences with good projects in their respective fields."
The two did not hold a separate wedding ceremony and reportedly have no plans to do so in the future.
Koo Kyo-hwan and director Yi Okseop, who are alumni of the film department at the Seoul Institute of the Arts, became romantically involved while working on the 2013 short film 'A Dangerous Woman.' They later collaborated on numerous feature-length and short films, including 'Maggie,' 'Semari,' and 'Romeo: Nuneul Gajin Joe.'
The two acknowledged their relationship in 2020 and continued dating publicly. It has now been revealed, four years later, that they quietly registered their marriage in 2022.
Koo Kyo-hwan, who made his debut in 2008, gained attention through works such as 'Jane of Dreams' and has since appeared in a range of projects, including 'Peninsula,' 'Escape from Mogadishu,' 'Escape,' 'Once We Were Us,' 'Colony,' and seasons 1 and 2 of 'D.P.' He is currently appearing as Seok-hwan in 'Reawaken Man: The Red,' which was released on the 30th of last month.
Director Yi Okseop has primarily worked on short films since making 'Cgmi & Butter Wave' in 2007.
