[Financial News] The Busan National Science Museum has obtained integrated certification for three international standards: the quality management system (ISO 9001), the environmental management system (ISO 14001), and the occupational health and safety management system (ISO 45001). The certification demonstrates that the museum has established an integrated management system based on international standards, covering everything from quality control of science and culture exhibitions and educational content to facility management, efforts to reduce environmental impact, and the safety of workers and visitors.
The Busan National Science Museum announced on the 1st that it held an ISO integrated certification presentation ceremony in a small meeting room on the 30th of last month, attended by Song Sam-jong, director of the Busan National Science Museum; Kim Cheon-ju, director of the Korea International Standards Certification Institute; and around 10 employees and officials.
To obtain the integrated certification for the three international standards, the Busan National Science Museum underwent a thorough review of its overall management system through internal audits, document reviews, and on-site audits by a specialized institution. The review covered key areas including organizational matters, leadership, planning, operations, and performance evaluation.
The museum was highly evaluated for systematically establishing a virtuous-cycle management system encompassing the development of management strategies, their implementation, performance indicator management, evaluation, and feedback. It also received high marks for procedures ranging from the development, registration, and operation of educational programs to statistical management, as well as for the management of safety regulations and manuals.
The Busan National Science Museum plans to use this certification as an opportunity to strengthen ESG management aimed at enhancing the institution's social responsibility and sustainability.
Song said, "The integrated certification for the three ISO international standards recognizes the systematic management of our science and culture services and overall institutional operations over the 11 years since our opening," adding, "We will continue to advance our management system and grow into a science museum trusted by the public."
