[Financial News] Kim Min-seok, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 1st that there was "no need to view the world through old conventions" in response to criticism from some quarters over President Lee Jae Myung's frequent communication on social media.
Kim appeared on the Democratic Party of Korea's YouTube program Minty07 that day and made the remarks in response to criticism that President Lee Jae Myung had been posting more frequently on social media since returning from an overseas trip. He said, "If we follow what those people are saying, at some point they may ask, 'Why is the president not communicating like this?'" Kim added, "Please do not be overly swayed by such things. When the president feels that it would be good to share certain thoughts with the people, he should simply feel free to do so. If it seems excessive, the people will judge."
Recently, President Lee has increased the frequency of his communication through social media, directly stating his position on current issues or citing posts by netizens. He also expressed his views on social media regarding the controversy over a 'pro-Yoon prosecutor' surrounding Kim Ji-yong, a nominee to head the Serious Crimes Investigation Agency, directly addressing related claims.
Regarding President Lee's communication style, Kim said, "He seems to believe that when something entirely untrue continues to be repeated, or when something has been explained as untrue but is still framed that way, it is necessary to provide a clear explanation separately from the decision on the appointment." He added, "Regardless of whether he follows through on his own judgments and decisions regarding appointments, it is right to accept the valid and justified issues raised about them."
