[Financial News] CJ CheilJedang's bibigo Kimbap is continuing its growth by rapidly expanding its distribution network in the U.S.
CJ CheilJedang said on the 1st that bibigo Kimbap sales in the U.S. rose 59% year over year from January through July this year.
Since entering Kroger, a major U.S. retailer, in December 2024, bibigo Kimbap has expanded its sales outlets this year alone to include Albertsons, Food Lion, Cub and Meijer. It is now sold through a total of 10 mainstream retail channels.
As a result, the number of U.S. stores selling bibigo Kimbap reached 4,734, up 145% from 1,924 a year earlier.
CJ CheilJedang considers the U.S. a key market for bibigo Kimbap. The company believes that, like dumplings before it, kimbap can also evolve from an unfamiliar food into an everyday staple and expand into mainstream food culture.
CJ CheilJedang plans to strengthen consumer-engagement marketing through digital content and collaborations with local creators. It also plans to expand its product portfolio beyond the two varieties currently sold in the U.S.: Bulgogi and Spicy Bulgogi.
A CJ CheilJedang official said, "We plan to strengthen mainstream distribution channels and marketing aimed at local consumers to develop bibigo Kimbap into a signature K-food product that U.S. consumers enjoy in their everyday lives."
