[Financial News] A story has emerged about residents suffering noise pollution from filming that continued until after 3 a.m. in a residential neighborhood near Jemulpo Market in Incheon Metropolitan City.
On-set directions given over a microphone until late at night without notice or a request for residents’ understanding
Resident A, who lives near Jemulpo Market, posted on the social media platform Threads on the 30th, "This neighborhood is popular as a filming location, and I have witnessed countless shoots during the 10 years I have lived here. But this is the first time I have seen a shoot go this far, using speakers after 3 a.m."
A video posted alongside the message showed someone giving on-set directions over a microphone until late at night at a location believed to be a music video shoot.
The directions, including "Let’s do it one more time," "We’ll use the smoke bomb one more time," "Please set it off," and "It has to appear," continued loudly enough to be heard from the surrounding residential area.
At the site, colorful smoke bombs were set off, while people also shouted interjections and cheers.
A said, "There was no advance notice about the shoot or any attempt to ask for residents’ understanding, and there was absolutely no sign that they were trying to be considerate. I understand that filming until dawn is hard work, but residents are suffering from the noise."
Even after reporting it to the 112 Police Emergency Number, they cheered "Good work" when the shoot ended ... "Residents weren’t even on their radar"
Unable to bear it any longer, A eventually reported the disturbance to the 112 Police Emergency Number and said they received a text message saying the shoot would end in 10 minutes.
A said, "When the shoot ended 10 to 15 minutes later, they congratulated one another, saying, ‘Good work,’ and cheered. That was when I suddenly felt very upset. It was already after 3:40 a.m., and I thought they had no regard whatsoever for the inconvenience caused to nearby residents."
A added, "Filming does not make you royalty. Please respect the boundaries."
Stories about nearby residents being inconvenienced by filming for dramas and movies have surfaced through online communities in the past as well, drawing criticism.
Online users reacted by saying, "Even if they sent an official notice and consolation gifts, people might or might not let it slide, but this is a nuisance group," "If you film until late at night, shouldn’t you at least ask residents for their understanding? Do they have no conscience?" "Shameless," and "Let’s see if they succeed while causing trouble for everyone else."
