[Financial News] Nine forest paths at the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty, a World Heritage site, are welcoming autumn visitors. Walking along the paths linking pine forests and royal tombs allows visitors to experience history and nature together.
The Royal Palaces and Tombs Center of the Korea Heritage Service said on the 1st that nine forest paths at the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty would be open from that day through Nov. 29. Their total length is 19.04 km.
In Seoul, the sections linking Taereung and Gangneung, as well as the Cheonjangsan Mountain forest path at Uireung, are open to visitors. At the East Nine Royal Tombs in Guri, visitors can walk the Hwireung–Wonreung and Gyeongneung–tree nursery sections. The Bokjagi tree forest path at Gwangneung Royal Tomb in Namyangju and the pine path behind the tomb area at Sareung Royal Tomb are also accessible.
The forest path north of the tomb area at Jangneung Royal Tomb, Paju, and the Yeongneung–Sunneung Small Pond and northern forest path at Gongneung at Pa-ju Three Royal Tombs are also included. Visitors can also use the forest path between Hwaseong Yungneung and Geolleung, as well as the outer forest paths of Yeongneung and Yeongneung in Yeoju.
Among these, the forest paths at Uireung in Seoul, Hwaseong Yungneung and Geolleung, and Jangneung Royal Tomb, Paju, were already open to the public.
The courses range in length from 775 meters at Sareung Royal Tomb in Namyangju to 3,693 meters at Hwaseong Yungneung and Geolleung. Visitors can choose a route based on their fitness level and available time, with options ranging from paths shorter than 1 km to sections longer than 3 km.
The paths are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in October and from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in November. Since visiting hours are reduced by 30 minutes in November, visitors should take this into account when planning their trips.
The sites are closed on Mondays, and the opening schedule may be adjusted depending on weather conditions and other circumstances. For more information, visitors can check with the management offices at each royal tomb or the websites of the Korea Heritage Service and the Royal Palaces and Tombs Center.
Since 2019, the Royal Palaces and Tombs Center has regularly opened the forest paths at the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty every spring and autumn while continuing maintenance work to ensure safe visits.
