Kim Young-gil, Head of Jung-gu, Ulsan, Elected Standing Vice Chair of the National Association of Mayors, County Heads and District Heads of Korea

[Financial News, Ulsan — Choi Soo-sang, Reporter] Kim Young-gil, head of Jung-gu in Ulsan, has been elected standing vice chair of the National Association of Mayors, County Heads and District Heads of Korea, which represents 227 local governments at the basic level nationwide. The role involves sharing regional issues and common challenges among local governments and strengthening policy cooperation with the central government.
Kim Young-gil, head of Jung-gu, said on the 30th, "I will approach this role with a sense of responsibility, as I have been entrusted with the important task of working together to resolve the diverse issues facing local governments nationwide," and added, "I will strengthen solidarity and cooperation among local governments so that the vivid voices from local communities can be fully reflected in policy, and I will do my part to ensure this leads to tangible progress in local self-government."
Meanwhile, the National Association of Mayors, County Heads and District Heads of Korea is a statutory consultative body comprising the mayors, county heads and district heads of 227 local governments nationwide. It consults with the central government on policies to advance local self-government and resolve common issues facing local governments, while promoting exchanges and cooperation among local governments.
The association elected the officers of the joint chairpersons' body that will lead the first half of the ninth popularly elected local-government term at a joint chairpersons' meeting held at the Seoul Press Center on the 29th. Kim Byeong-nae, head of Nam-gu, Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City, was elected chair. District Head Kim and Choi Dae-ho, mayor of Anyang-si in Gyeonggi Province, will serve as standing vice chairs.
