Park Seung-heup Takes Office as President of the Korea Workers' Compensation & Welfare Service: "A Labor-Welfare Platform for Everyone Who Works"

[Financial News] Park Seung-heup, former president of the Jeon Tae-il Foundation, took office as the 11th president of the Korea Workers' Compensation & Welfare Service on the 30th. He held an inauguration ceremony that day and began his official duties.
 In his inaugural address, Park said, "Anyone who works should be able to receive protection from the social safety net when needed." He urged the service to "further develop into a national labor-welfare platform that connects the life risks faced by everyone who works through prevention, compensation and recovery."
 Park presented five key pledges: implementing reforms to the income-based coverage and contribution assessment systems for employment and workers' compensation insurance; strengthening workers' compensation insurance, including prompt and fair determinations of occupational diseases; expanding efforts to prevent wage arrears; expanding Pureun Seed, the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Retirement Pension Fund; and improving the treatment of service employees.
 "I will seek answers in the field and run the service responsibly based on trust," Park stated. "I will make it an organization that works with the people by first identifying and protecting those in blind spots of the system, providing workers facing difficulties with the support they need in a timely manner, and firmly supporting the lives of all citizens from their working years through life after work."
 Meanwhile, Park graduated from Chuncheon High School and Seoul National University before earning a master's degree in labor economics from Soongsil University. He founded the Korea Center for Non-Regular Workers in 1999 and served as a member of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea's committee promoting the enactment of an anti-discrimination law, chief executive officer of The Labor Today, and co-chair of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Jobs Committee, among other positions.
