Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) Launches Future Railway Advisory Committee with External Experts

[Financial News] KORAIL has established an external advisory body to discuss key issues facing the railway industry and mid- to long-term challenges.
KORAIL held the first meeting of the Future Railway Advisory Committee at its Seoul headquarters on the 30th. The meeting was attended by nine external experts in transportation, safety, artificial intelligence (AI), management and business development, along with KORAIL President Kim Tae-seung and the heads of five divisions.
The committee members discussed regional revitalization models, the introduction of the next-generation high-speed train EMU-320, measures to improve worker safety, the implementation of carbon neutrality and ways to strengthen financial soundness.
They particularly recommended that overseas cases, expert opinions and the views of frontline employees be broadly reflected in the safety and service specifications of the new trains.
Yoon Wan-cheol, an emeritus professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), was elected chair of the committee. KORAIL plans to hold meetings every quarter and reflect the committee's recommendations in key policies, including balanced regional development, modal shift and carbon neutrality.
KORAIL President Kim Tae-seung said, "I will actively incorporate experts' recommendations into management, deliver results in the field and pave the way for sustainable railways."
