Man in his 30s who sent young people to the Kingdom of Cambodia sentenced to 2 years, 8 months

[Financial News | Jeonju = Kang In, Reporter] A man in his 30s who lured young people with promises of jobs and handed them over to a criminal organization in the Kingdom of Cambodia has been sentenced to prison.
The Jeonju Division of the Gwangju High Court upheld the lower court's sentence of two years and eight months in prison on the 30th in the appeal trial of Defendant A, 34, who was indicted on charges including kidnapping and inducing people to be transferred abroad.
The court also sentenced Defendant B, 28, who surveilled the victims, to one year in prison, suspended for two years.
Defendant A and others were indicted on charges including handing two South Korean youths over to a voice-phishing organization in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
They lured the youths by telling them, "You can earn tens of millions of won by going to the Kingdom of Cambodia just once."
The court ruled, "The defendants claim that there are grounds for leniency because their involvement in the crimes was minor or they acted on orders from higher-ups. However, it appears that the lower court determined the sentences after considering various pieces of evidence and statements."
