[Financial News] KB Kookmin Bank announced on the 30th that it had completed financing totaling 4.3742 trillion won and entered into a financing agreement with GTX-C, the project operator, on the 29th. The bank served as the lead financial arranger for the GTX-C Line Private Investment Project.
The project will establish a metropolitan transportation network extending 86.46 kilometers with 14 stations, connecting Deokjeong Station in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, with Suwon Station via Uijeongbu, Seoul's Cheongnyangni station, Samseong Station and Yangjae. Once completed, passengers will be able to travel from Deokjeong Station to Samseong Station in 30 minutes and to Suwon Station in 55 minutes. The project is expected to shorten travel times for residents of the Seoul metropolitan area and significantly improve transportation convenience.
Nineteen financial institutions participated in the financing arrangement. The funds will consist of 3.13 trillion won in senior loans and 1.2442 trillion won in equity capital and funds involving mezzanine and subordinated loans.
KB Kookmin Bank has participated as the lead arranger for the GTX-C Line since 2020. It secured a 1.5 trillion-won guarantee from the Infrastructure Credit Guarantee Fund, the largest amount in the fund's history, thereby enhancing the stability of the senior loans. The bank also applied a permanent closed-end fund structure to some of the funds to mitigate risks. By completing an optimal financial structure, it increased the incentives for financial institutions to participate in the project.
Meanwhile, KB Kookmin Bank completed the financial arrangement for project financing (PF) for the Shinan-Ui Offshore Wind Project in April. By taking on large-scale infrastructure projects such as the Namyangju Wangsuk District Energy Project and the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster District Energy Project, the bank continues to expand its leading role in providing financial support for the national power industry and future growth industries.
