HANSHIN CONSTRUCTION announced on the 30th that it had signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with JUNGDO and ZYX Technology to advance data center and digital twin-based smart construction technologies. The agreement is aimed at proactively responding to the rapidly growing data center market and securing differentiated business competitiveness by organically combining the companies' architectural and civil engineering construction capabilities, specialized engineering expertise, building information modeling (BIM), and digital twin technologies.
Data centers are a representative high-value-added building sector that requires advanced technological capabilities and high construction quality, including large-scale power infrastructure, cooling and temperature- and humidity-control systems, sophisticated security, and stable structural design. As data center investments expand with the growth of the AI and cloud industries, capabilities in precision design, construction scheduling and maintenance are emerging as key competitive advantages.
HANSHIN CONSTRUCTION has accumulated construction expertise through various infrastructure projects, including the Ilsan KT Integrated Media Center (9MW), major business facilities, and 154kV, 345kV and 765kV transmission lines. It plans to combine this expertise with JUNGDO's specialized engineering capabilities and ZYX Technology's BIM and digital twin technologies.
Through this initiative, the companies will establish a digital-based work system linking the process from initial design review through construction and schedule management to post-completion maintenance. In particular, they aim to prevent design errors and construction clashes that may arise in complex data center projects and raise quality control standards by using BIM for three-dimensional design and construction reviews and digital twins to integrate facility information management.
This partnership reflects the construction industry's shift away from a focus solely on construction toward a trend of boosting productivity and efficiency by integrating advanced technologies such as BIM, digital twins and artificial intelligence (AI). HANSHIN CONSTRUCTION plans to build differentiated competitiveness by systematically managing the shorter construction schedules, quality assurance and construction stability required in data center projects, enabling it to respond to clients' diverse needs.
A HANSHIN CONSTRUCTION official said, "The strategic cooperation among the three companies will serve as an opportunity to secure the technological competitiveness demanded by the future construction market by combining our accumulated construction capabilities with specialized engineering and BIM and digital twin technologies." The official added, "We will strengthen our competitiveness in high-value-added business sectors and secure new growth engines."
