[Financial News] Busan Transportation Corporation announced on the 30th that it had become the first among urban rail transit operators nationwide to rank No. 1 for 10 consecutive years in the urban rail transit category of the 2026 Korean Customer Satisfaction Index (KCSI), released by Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC).
The corporation's overall satisfaction score in this year's survey was 86.3, well above the industry average of 77.7. It also ranked No. 1 in every survey category among the evaluated groups, extending its streak of top rankings across all categories to six consecutive years since 2021.
The corporation is focusing on service innovation that customers can experience directly, working to reduce inconveniences and improve convenience for passengers using urban rail transit.
A notable example is Korea's first mobile ticket quick-payment service using dynamic QR codes. Introduced to reduce congestion in stations and make ticket purchases more convenient during large-scale events such as BTS concerts in Busan, the service allows passengers to purchase tickets immediately by simply scanning a QR code. It also supports four languages and payments with foreign cards, improving convenience for both domestic passengers and international tourists.
The corporation also introduced an Intelligent Heating and Cooling Complaint Forecast System to reduce recurring summer complaints about train-car temperatures based on customer usage data. The system uses AI to analyze complaint data from the past three years and the day's weather information, then provides drivers with optimal cooling guidelines by line and time period.
The corporation is also working to create an urban rail environment that passengers can use with confidence. Its Smart Ventilation Facility Operation System manages air quality in real time, helping it rank No. 1 in underground station air quality for five consecutive years. In addition, it became the first operator nationwide to establish a real-time monitoring system for CCTV in train cars across all lines based on the Integrated Railway Wireless Communication Network (LTE-R). The system enables staff to quickly assess conditions inside train cars, strengthening the corporation's emergency response capabilities.
Park Myeong-do, Acting President of Busan Transportation Corporation, said, "The No. 1 ranking in customer satisfaction for 10 consecutive years is the result of constantly considering how to provide customers with a better experience throughout every part of their journey on the urban rail system," adding, "We will continue to listen to our customers and work to ensure that everyone can use Busan Metro conveniently and safely."
