"Please Don't Throw Away Dog Poop" ... A Plea Posted at a Convenience Store [What Do You Think?]

[Financial News] As cases continue of people throwing pet waste collected during walks into convenience store trash cans, store owners and part-time workers are complaining of foul odors and sanitation problems.
The issue came to light through a post titled "An Incident at a Convenience Store in Incheon Metropolitan City," which was uploaded to an online community on the 30th.
The photo showed a notice attached to the cabinet housing the convenience store's trash can. It read, "No Disposal of Outside Food Waste" and "Notice: Please Don't Throw Away Dog Poop."
A said, "I truly never imagined that anyone would throw dog poop into a convenience store trash can," adding, "How often must this be happening for them to make an appeal using the word 'please'?"
Other self-employed business owners and part-time workers also shared similar experiences. One online user said, "I worked part-time at a convenience store for three years, and more people than I expected left dog poop there," adding, "Some even secretly dumped it despite the notices."
As the number of pet-owning households grows, everyday conflicts are also continuing over where to dispose of waste after collecting it.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA)'s "2025 Pet Rearing Status Survey," 29.2% of all households kept pets. Among pet-owning households, the share that kept dogs was the highest at 80.5%.
Under the current Animal Protection Act, owners must immediately pick up any feces produced when they take their dogs outside. However, disputes continue over where the collected waste should be disposed of.
When dog feces are repeatedly thrown into store trash cans, store owners and part-time workers are left to shoulder the burden of foul odors, sanitation management, and waste disposal.
Given the situation, some say that as the pet-owning population grows, "petiquette" is needed not only to collect waste but also to dispose of it without causing inconvenience to others.
