Samsung Electronics Vietnam Strengthens SIC Lab Project with Phu Tho Province to Develop Industry and Talent

【Hanoi, Vietnam—Correspondent Kim Jun-seok】Samsung Electronics Vietnam is strengthening cooperation with the Phu Tho provincial government to develop advanced technology talent and supporting industries. To this end, it has begun an on-site survey to establish Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) labs at two major educational institutions in the region.
According to local media reports on the 30th, Yongsup Kim, head of external relations at Samsung Electronics Vietnam, met with Tran Duy Dong, chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, at the committee building on the 28th and introduced key projects Samsung is pursuing in Vietnam.
Samsung's SIC Lab initiative is a program that trains university and junior college students in key technology fields, including artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and big data. In 2026, semiconductor technology training was introduced for the first time, with courses offered at three levels: introductory, basic, and advanced. Samsung is also pursuing a strategy to expand specialized SIC labs across Vietnam.
Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, jointly operated by Samsung and the Vietnam National Innovation Center (NIC), is also continuing as a program that encourages middle and high school students to use STEM knowledge to solve real-life problems.
Kim asked Phu Tho Province to continue cooperating with and supporting the smooth implementation of the programs. He also expressed his desire to help improve the quality of talent in the region.
Dong explained Phu Tho Province's locational advantages, including its abundant labor force, established electronics industry base, and diverse educational institutions, and expressed hope for a comprehensive expansion of cooperation with Samsung. He asked both sides to focus on developing an excellent advanced technology workforce with practical skills, along with building a production ecosystem, supporting industries, and supply chains. He also welcomed Samsung's plan to establish advanced technology education centers at educational institutions in the province and said he would instruct the relevant departments, Hung Vuong University, and Vinh Phuc College of Technology and Engineering to work with Samsung and promptly draw up plans for their establishment.
Representatives of Samsung Electronics Vietnam visited Hung Vuong University and Vinh Phuc College of Technology and Engineering in person that day to inspect their educational infrastructure. The inspection was intended to flesh out strategic cooperation between Samsung Electronics Vietnam and the Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee in developing highly skilled personnel with advanced technological expertise.
At the meeting, Kim shared Samsung's vision of building an innovation ecosystem that connects education and research with the actual needs of businesses. He said the company plans to provide local students with free training in AI, big data, IoT, and semiconductors by supporting the establishment of SIC labs. He also said, "Samsung Electronics Vietnam plans to develop detailed cooperation measures based on the results of the inspection," and asked the universities to work to identify students passionate about technology and improve the quality of education.
