The first Gwangyang Tourism Day is a public-private partnership project organized by the two institutions in connection with the 22nd Gwangyang Traditional Charcoal-Grilled Festival. It will run from October 16 to 18. The initiative is designed to encourage festival visitors to explore areas throughout Gwangyang beyond the festival grounds, extend their stays, and spend more on tourism across the region.
Lee Myeong-man, chairman of the Gwangyang-si Tourism Council, said, "To mark the first Gwangyang Tourism Day, we have prepared a special discount tour so that more tourists can enjoy Gwangyang's attractions and festival together," adding, "We hope this will be an opportunity to experience Gwangyang's unique and diverse appeal through a trip that brings together the city's autumn scenery, food, and culture."
According to Gwangyang-si, the discount tour will be offered in two courses: a same-day tour and a one-night, two-day tour. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through October 5.
The same-day tour will be offered once a day from October 16 to 18, with 40 participants accepted per session. The participation fee is 10,000 won. The one-night, two-day tour will be offered in two sessions, from October 16 to 17 and from October 17 to 18, with 30 participants accepted per session. The participation fee is 24,000 won.
The itinerary includes Panorama Walk, which is scheduled to open this October, as well as Gwangyang's major tourist attractions, including the Seomjin River, Gwangyang Bay, Baegunsan, Mangdeok Port, and the Jeonnam Art Museum. Transportation, admission fees, and hands-on programs are included to make travel more convenient and allow participants to experience Gwangyang's diverse appeal, including its nature, culture, and cuisine.
The 10,000-won same-day tour fee includes round-trip transportation, admission fees, activity fees, mat rental, and snacks. Participants will begin with a herb vinegar-making experience, have lunch at their leisure at the Mangdeok Port Food Town, and then take part in a plum sparkling wine experience. They will continue to Baeal Island Waterfront Park, Jeong Byeong-uk's House (Former Location of Yun Dong-ju's Manuscripts), Panorama Walk, and the Jeonnam Art Museum before visiting the Gwangyang Traditional Charcoal-Grilled Festival in the evening to enjoy Gwangyang's signature foods and the festival.
The 24,000-won fee for the one-night, two-day tour includes round-trip transportation, admission fees, activity fees, mat rental, snacks, and souvenirs. Participants will visit Park1538 Gwangyang, make succulent plant key rings, take part in a Seomjin River yacht experience and a plum sparkling wine experience, and tour Jeong Byeong-uk's House (Former Location of Yun Dong-ju's Manuscripts) and Baeal Island Waterfront Park before stopping at the Gwangyang Traditional Charcoal-Grilled Festival. The following day, they can enjoy Gwangyang's autumn scenery while walking along Panorama Walk and the trails at Baegunsan Recreational Forest. Applications for the one-night, two-day tour are available only to those who can provide proof that they booked and used accommodation in Gwangyang-si between October 14 and 19. Meal and accommodation costs are not included in the participation fee.
Applications for the discount tour can be submitted through Naver Form or by phone. After applying, participants must deposit the participation fee into the designated account.
The boarding locations are the main gate of Gwangyang-si City Hall and the entrance to Gwangyang Public Stadium. Each tour will operate when at least 10 people sign up, and applications will close on a first-come, first-served basis.
