Hyundai Movex Secures 72 Billion Won Smart Logistics Order from Kumho Tire

[Financial News] Hyundai Movex will build a smart logistics system at Kumho Tire’s new plant in Hampyeong, a next-generation production base for the tiremaker.
Hyundai Movex said on the 30th that it had signed a 72 billion won contract with Kumho Tire to supply a logistics automation system. The company plans to provide an intelligent logistics solution to Kumho Tire’s new plant in the Bitgreen National Industrial Complex in Hampyeong, South Jeolla Province, by October 2028.
The new Hampyeong plant will be developed on a site of approximately 500,000 square meters, with an annual production capacity of 5.3 million tires. Kumho Tire plans to establish smart manufacturing and logistics systems and strengthen its production and quality competitiveness through phased expansion in the future.
Hyundai Movex will build an integrated automation system that connects and controls logistics across the entire manufacturing process, from raw materials to semi-finished and finished products. The system will link automated equipment—including automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), automated guided vehicles (AGVs), autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), rail-guided vehicles (RGVs), and conveyors—with warehouse management and control software.
In addition to continuous unmanned transport between processes and real-time logistics tracking and management, the system will apply artificial intelligence (AI)-based material flow forecasting and optimal route control technologies. The goal is to improve logistics efficiency and shorten process lead times.
Hyundai Movex will handle the entire project, from design, fabrication, and installation to maintenance and repair. The company plans to provide an integrated smart logistics solution by leveraging more than 30 years of accumulated engineering expertise in the tire industry.
Hyundai Movex is currently carrying out a smart logistics construction project worth approximately 100 billion won for the expansion of Hankook Tire & Technology’s plant in Tennessee, the United States. It has also supplied automation solutions to production bases in Europe, China, and Southeast Asia operated by major domestic and international tire companies.
With this order, Hyundai Movex plans to expand its customer base and accelerate its efforts to target the global smart logistics market, including Kumho Tire’s overseas production bases. This year, the company has continued to secure orders in various industries beyond tires, including secondary batteries, home appliances, distribution, logistics, and pharmaceuticals. As of September, it had secured an order backlog exceeding 400 billion won.
