[Financial News] Inje University Haeundae Paik Hospital, led by Director Kim Seong-su, said on the 30th that it had hosted Lee Guk-jong, director of Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital, for a special lecture on the 29th titled "The Direction Critical Emergency Care Should Take."
The event was organized to examine ways to develop the regional critical emergency care system and the role of medical institutions, as Haeundae Paik Hospital continues to strengthen its capacity to treat critically ill patients.
During the lecture, Lee Guk-jong shared his field-based experience and views, focusing on the direction regional emergency care should pursue and the role trauma surgeons should play in treating patients with severe trauma.
He also introduced emergency and trauma care systems in London, France and Japan, examining how each country operates its system and the implications for South Korea's critical emergency care system.
The participants revisited the importance of organically linking emergency care systems, specialized personnel and medical institutions so that patients can receive the treatment they need in a timely manner, rather than relying solely on the efforts of individual medical professionals to treat critically ill emergency patients.
After the lecture, Lee toured Haeundae Paik Hospital's helipad, operating rooms and regional emergency medical center, examining its systems for treating critically ill and emergency patients as well as its operational status. He also observed the clinical process firsthand, from the transport of emergency patients and initial response to surgery and other treatments for critically ill patients.
Kim Seong-su, director of Haeundae Paik Hospital, said, "Critical emergency care is an essential medical field directly linked to the lives of local residents, so medical institutions have significant roles and responsibilities to fulfill. I hope this special lecture served as an opportunity to broaden our staff's understanding of care for critically ill patients and to consider together the care systems and roles we need to strengthen as a regional medical institution."
