Full train-fare refunds for trips to Hoengseong County... Hoengseong County teams up with KORAIL to attract tourists

【Financial News Hoengseong—Kim Gi-seop, reporter】Tourists taking a fall trip to Hoengseong County by train can receive the full amount of their train fare back in KORAIL discount coupons. Those who visit the designated sites can also take home pottery souvenirs made at a local workshop.
Hoengseong County said on the 30th that it will operate a railway tourism promotion event with Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) for two months, from Oct. 1 through Nov. 30. The event is being held in conjunction with the government-led “Travel Month” campaign to boost demand for fall tourism. It is open to tourists who purchase independent travel packages to Hoengseong County through the KORAIL app or website. They will receive the full train fare in discount coupons that can be used for future KORAIL train bookings.
The event may end early if the allocated budget is exhausted. Information on how to book the packages and the list of attractions eligible for verification is available through the KORAIL app or the “Travel Month” section of the Korea Travel & Tourism Guide website.
The county has added its own benefits. The 10 designated railway-tourism attractions are △Hoengseonghosugil Trail, △Hoengseong Luge Experience Center, △Pungsuwon Catholic Church Relics Exhibition Hall, △Anheung Jjinppang Morakmorak Village, △Hoengseong Korean Beef Experience Center, △Hoengseong Traditional Market, △Hoengseong National Forest Experience Center, △Cheongtaesan National Recreational Forest, △Noah’s Forest, and △Welli Hilli Park. Visitors can receive a souvenir if they visit at least three of the attractions in total, including at least one of the five sites operated by the county: Hoengseonghosugil Trail, Hoengseong Luge Experience Center, Anheung Jjinppang Morakmorak Village, Pungsuwon Catholic Church Relics Exhibition Hall, and Hoengseong Korean Beef Experience Center.
The verification process is also straightforward. Visitors must scan the QR code provided at each attraction and show Hoengseong Station staff three photos taken with landmarks, such as signs for the attractions, in the background. The first 100 visitors who meet the requirements will receive a handmade pottery mug from a Hoengseong pottery workshop and a pottery worry stone.
Park Eun-jeong, head of Hoengseong County’s Culture and Tourism Division, said, "This event is an excellent opportunity even for travelers visiting Hoengseong County for the first time, as they can receive their full train fare back in coupons and take home pottery souvenirs made at a workshop." She added, "I hope you explore places throughout Hoengseong County, including the Hoengseonghosugil Trail, and enjoy an unforgettable fall as the Anheung Jjinppang Festival, the Hoengseong Korean Beef Festival and the Taejongnogu Cultural Festival are held one after another in October."
