In particular, public secondary teachers will, in principle, serve in their former jurisdictions for eight years after their initial appointment.
On the 30th, the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special Metropolitan City Office of Education announced the implementation plan for the 2027 academic year competitive examination to select candidates for appointment as public and private secondary school teachers, health, library, professional counseling, nutrition, and special education (secondary) teachers.
In South Jeolla Province, the final number of public school recruits is 276 secondary school teachers, 66 health, librarian, professional counseling, and nutrition teachers, and 14 special school secondary teachers. Of these, 28 will be selected through a separate recruitment track for people with disabilities. Private schools will recruit 68 secondary school teachers, two health teachers, and two special school secondary teachers.
In Gwangju, public schools will recruit 18 secondary school teachers, 27 health, librarian, professional counseling, and nutrition teachers, and nine special school secondary teachers. Of these, four will be selected through a separate recruitment track for people with disabilities. Private schools will recruit 67 secondary school teachers.
In particular, to ensure a stable teacher supply following the integration of South Jeolla Province and Gwangju and to prevent confusion in the education field, final candidates selected for public schools for the 2027 academic year will serve in their former jurisdictions for eight years from the date of their initial appointment. Once that period ends, integrated transfers between South Jeolla Province and Gwangju will be carried out.
Applicants must hold a teaching certificate in the relevant subject, including those expected to obtain one by the end of February 2027.
Applications can be submitted from October 12 to 16 through the online staff recruitment system of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special Metropolitan City Office of Education.
The first-stage examination for public secondary teacher recruitment will be held on November 28, with successful candidates announced on December 29. For those who pass the first stage, the second-stage examination will include a practical assessment on January 14, 2027, followed by teaching demonstrations and in-depth interviews on January 20 and 21. The final results will be announced on February 5, 2027.
