"Tearing Down Office Walls to Connect Affiliates"... Hana Financial Builds Its Future in Cheongna [On-Site Report]

[Financial News] Cheongna Town, Hana Financial Group's new hub, has completed its "final puzzle piece." Following the group's Integrated Data Center in 2017 and Hana Global Campus in 2019, the headquarters has also opened, bringing the group's IT, talent development and management functions together in Cheongna. The new headquarters places collaboration at the center of its design. Hana Financial Group plans to boost management synergies by bringing its affiliates together while strengthening connections between affiliates and departments through spacious work areas and a 5G private network-based wireless work environment. 
On the 30th, it took about an hour to reach Hana Financial Group's Cheongna Headquarters from Hana Financial Myeongdong Headquarters in central Seoul. Designed around the infinity symbol, the building drew attention with its visual representation of the group's vision, "Finance for All, Connected as One." The complex spans seven basement levels and 15 floors above ground, with a total floor area of 128,503 square meters (38,872 pyeong). Curved spaces were stacked vertically to connect one floor with the next. 
Hana Bank and Hana Capital will move in next month, followed by Hana Life Insurance, Hana Securities, Hana Fund Service, Hana Card and Hana Savings Bank from November. Once employees from 10 affiliates relocate, more than 2,200 staff members will join the existing workforce, bringing the total number of financial professionals in Cheongna to over 4,000.

Hana Financial Group has turned the entire building into a "collaboration platform" by removing physical boundaries between affiliates and departments. Each office floor at the Cheongna Headquarters has approximately 3,636 square meters (1,100 pyeong) of dedicated space—three times the size of the existing Myeongdong headquarters. The facility was designed to encourage employees from different organizations to share a spacious workplace, meet naturally and communicate.
The seventh-floor Smart Work Center opens into a space reminiscent of a café. Designed with a more relaxed atmosphere than the standard office floors, it allows employees to work and interact in the same space regardless of which affiliate they belong to.
Hana Financial Group's digital infrastructure made this type of space possible. It has established a wireless work environment at the Cheongna Headquarters by applying a 5G private network to its actual business network for the first time in the financial sector. As a result, employees can work without being tied to a specific seat or wired connection.
Hana Financial Group plans to use the move to the Cheongna Headquarters as an opportunity to transform the group's work practices and corporate culture and prepare for its next 100 years. It also plans to expand its engagement with the local community. The company is considering opening its employee cafeteria to the public once operations stabilize. It also plans to make the new headquarters a destination for local residents and customers by hosting cultural and sporting events in cooperation with Incheon Metropolitan City Government.
A Hana Financial Group official said, "The Cheongna Headquarters is not simply a move to a new building. It is the starting point for creating new ways of working and communicating through space." 
The group's Integrated Data Center, built in 2017, stands across from the Cheongna Headquarters. It was the starting point for Hana Financial Town and serves as the group's "digital finance heart." As the group's core IT hub, it brings together its human and physical IT infrastructure. About 1,800 employees are working there to lead innovation in future finance. 
The facility is also equipped to provide uninterrupted financial services. Key infrastructure has been duplicated, while uninterruptible power supplies and emergency power-generation equipment have been installed to prepare for outages and power failures. The electrical room is located on the second floor above ground to guard against flooding, and the facility was built to the "Special Grade" seismic design standard.
An AI data center computer room is scheduled to be established on the seventh floor of the Integrated Data Center. An official from Hana TI said, "We began preparations seven months ago, and the center is scheduled to open in August 2028." The official added, "We will also announce plans to build the AI data center within a year." 
Hana Financial Group is positioning the Integrated Data Center as a key hub for turning future financial innovations involving cloud computing and AI into reality. A Hana Financial Group official said, "We will continue to strengthen the group's technological capabilities, including those of the Hana Institute of Technology, to provide customers with safer and more convenient financial services and build a digital finance ecosystem that grows together with the local community."
