SUDOKWON Landfill Site Management announced on the 30th that it would participate as the designated agency for the waste-to-energy sector under the "2026 Integrated Notice for the Recruitment of Specialized Graduate Schools in Environmental Fields" issued by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment.
The initiative is designed to support the innovative growth of green industries and train green convergence technology professionals needed in the field. A total of 12 universities will be selected across eight areas, including knowledge-based environmental services, fine dust management, carbon neutrality, climate change, and waste-to-energy.
Two universities will be selected for the waste-to-energy sector, with each receiving 300 million won annually. SUDOKWON Landfill Site Management plans to support the operation of specialized graduate schools and help train advanced professionals and industry personnel tailored to the needs of the waste-to-energy and recycling fields.
The training will go beyond university lectures, incorporating field-oriented programs such as industry-academia cooperation projects and internships. In particular, it will focus on developing practical professionals by applying new technologies, including artificial intelligence and big data, to waste treatment processes.
The curriculum will consist of basic, advanced, and practical stages. Required courses will include waste recycling and resource engineering, as well as waste-to-energy and digital process management. The program will also cover pyrolysis and gasification, biogasification, smart anaerobic digestion, AI-based process analysis and optimization, and the operation and field validation of waste-to-energy plants.
Applications for the initiative will be accepted until 4 p.m. on October 19. Universities wishing to participate may submit the required documents in accordance with the notice. Further details are available on the websites of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and the designated agency.
