[Financial News] Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) announced on the 30th that it had received 302 applications for three positions after recently closing applications for its second-half 2026 open recruitment, resulting in an average competition ratio of 100.67 to 1.
By job category, the Grade 7 general administrative position had the highest competition ratio, with 202 applicants for one position, or 202 to 1. The Grade 7 general architectural position drew 92 applicants for one position, resulting in a ratio of 92 to 1, while the public-service facility manager position received eight applications for one opening, for a ratio of 8 to 1.
The recruitment was conducted as a regional talent program that restricted eligibility by region, which is believed to have attracted considerable interest from young people in the area. The hiring process will also follow a blind, job-competency-based recruitment system that excludes factors such as educational background.
Final candidates will be selected through four stages: document screening, a written examination, a personality test, and an interview. The final results are scheduled to be announced on December 11 for Grade 7 general-service positions and on November 24 for public-service positions.
Successful candidates will undergo medical examinations and checks for disqualifying grounds before being appointed on a probationary or regular basis in December.
BMC President Shin Chang-ho said, "We are deeply grateful that so many people have shown interest in BMC despite the challenging hiring environment." He added, "We will conduct every stage, from the written examination to the final interview, fairly and transparently without leaving room for the slightest suspicion, and select candidates with the necessary job competencies."
