Hanjin Appoints Former Safety and Security Office Head Choi Jong-seok as Executive Vice President in Charge of Policy Planning

Born in 1970, Executive Vice President Choi graduated from the Department of Social Welfare at Seoul National University. He earned a master's degree from Cornell University's Graduate School of Industrial and Labor Relations and a doctorate in business administration from Korea University (KU).
After passing the state examination for public officials, he began his career as an official at the Ministry of Employment and Labor. He subsequently served as an administrative officer in the Presidential Office's Office of the Secretary for Employment and Labor Relations and as a labor attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United States of America, before working as Hanjin's CSO and head of policy planning.
Executive Vice President Choi will analyze market and external policy changes, assess their impact on management, and formulate response strategies. He will also strengthen networks with relevant external organizations and support the advancement of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management, including improvements to the safety and health system and labor-management relations.
A Hanjin official said, "Executive Vice President Choi has a broad understanding of policy and management issues, having gained extensive experience in public service, the media, and the corporate sector." The official added, "By establishing the executive vice president position, we will strengthen our ability to respond to rapidly changing internal and external environments and drive sustainable growth by establishing an advanced safety and labor-management culture, among other initiatives."
