United Nations Command: "DMZ Mine Explosion Violated Armistice Agreement," Citing One North Korean Anti-Personnel Mine Found

[Financial News] The United Nations Command said on the 30th that it had determined that a North Korean mine explosion in the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on the western front violated the Armistice Agreement. This came four days after the UNC and the South Korean military launched a joint preliminary investigation on the 26th.
The UNC said, "During the field investigation, one North Korean anti-personnel mine was found in the Republic of Korea's territory south of the Military Demarcation Line (MDL). Based on the findings, the United Nations Command determined that a violation of the Armistice Agreement had occurred." It added that it was taking action in accordance with the established Armistice Agreement framework.
The UNC has been conducting a joint field investigation in cooperation with the South Korean military into the mine explosion that occurred in the DMZ on the 21st.
