[Financial News] NAVER is conducting a personal information protection campaign to mark Personal Information Protection Day, with participation from business operators, users and employees. The company aims to raise awareness of personal information protection by sharing real cases of personal information breaches and incorporating users' ideas into service improvements.
NAVER said it will hold a personal information protection campaign and events for business members, users and employees in celebration of Personal Information Protection Day on September 30.
First, NAVER informed business members of the basic requirements they must follow to protect personal information and provided guidelines they can refer to in operating their businesses, along with examples of actual administrative sanctions. Cases such as downloading customer information files onto a personal PC, sending an email to the wrong recipient and failing to dispose of documents containing personal information were shared through Naver Smart Store, Naver Reservation, Naver TalkTalk and Pay.
NAVER is also operating a program that allows users to participate directly in improving personal information protection standards. Through October 4, the company is running the Privacy Idea Challenge, which invites users to submit ideas for improving personal information protection and privacy through the Privacy Improvement Reward (PER) program. Outstanding ideas will receive additional rewards separate from the existing PER compensation.
The Personal Information Protection Blog provides guidelines that users can follow themselves to protect their personal information. An interactive event is also being held through October 8, inviting participants to leave comments featuring self-introductions with their personal information redacted. For employees, NAVER has held an in-house Golden Bell quiz on personal information protection and a poster contest. The company has also arranged a special lecture on personal information compliance issues in the AI era.
