Shinhan Bank Implements Rehabilitation Support for Debtors in Crisis, Including Youth

Shinhan Bank President Jung Sang-hyuk, Korea Legal Aid Corporation Chairman Kim Young-jin, and officials from both organizations attended the donation ceremony on this day.
This support was established to help debtors in crisis, including young people struggling with economic hardship and heavy debt, resolve their debt problems through legal assistance and make a stable comeback.
The donated funds will be utilized through the Korea Legal Aid Corporation for legal aid projects, including identifying debtors in crisis, providing legal counseling, and assisting with individual rehabilitation and bankruptcy. In particular, centered around the Seoul Comprehensive Support Center for Individual Rehabilitation and Bankruptcy, the project will identify debtors in need of assistance and provide systematic support ranging from legal counseling to legal procedures such as individual rehabilitation and bankruptcy.
Since 1997, Shinhan Bank has collaborated with the Korea Legal Aid Corporation to support citizens who find it difficult to access legal services due to economic hardship. Last year, it provided 1.75 billion won in support for free legal aid to vulnerable groups, including victims of Jeonse fraud, and cumulative donations through 2025 totaled 51 billion won.
Through the cooperation of the two organizations, 298,099 cases of legal aid were provided to vulnerable groups, including recipients of basic livelihood support, through this year, benefiting a total of 312,208 people. In addition, legal counseling was provided to 16,298 victims of Jeonse fraud, and 4,825 cases of legal aid were provided.
"Helping those who are struggling with economic hardship and heavy debt to get back on their feet is an important social role of finance," said Shinhan Bank President Jung Sang-hyuk. "We will continue to work with the Korea Legal Aid Corporation to eliminate blind spots in finance and law and support the healthy recovery of vulnerable groups."
