[Financial News] Mastern Investment Management, an asset manager specializing in alternative investments, has continued its social contribution activities promoting coexistence with local communities through voluntary employee giving for five years.
According to investment banking (IB) industry sources on the 30th, Mastern Investment Management will conduct its regular social contribution program, "Together Goods Donation Campaign Season 5," from October 1 to 23, for approximately three weeks. The campaign is organized by the Center for Positive Impact, which operates under the Social Contribution Task Force launched in April. The Center for Positive Impact serves as a hub that plans and implements the task force's social impact activities on the ground. It leads the company's social contribution efforts, ranging from employee participation programs and industry-academic cooperation to community-linked activities.
The donated goods will be delivered to the social enterprise Goodwill Store for resale, with the proceeds used to support employment and independent living for people with developmental disabilities. Goodwill Store is a vocational rehabilitation facility for people with disabilities operated by the Miral Welfare Foundation. It resells donated goods at reasonable prices and provides employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities through the proceeds.
Launched in 2022, the Together Goods Donation Campaign has been held every year and has become one of Mastern Investment Management's signature regular social contribution programs. As it marks its fifth consecutive year, the accumulated voluntary participation of employees has helped establish goods donations as a natural culture of sharing within the company rather than a one-time event.
Mastern Investment Management will place donation collection boxes and bags throughout its offices starting October 1. During the approximately three-week campaign, employees can freely donate a wide range of items, including clothing, miscellaneous goods, small household appliances and daily necessities, in accordance with Goodwill Store's donation guidelines. Employees can also receive year-end tax deduction benefits by recording the types and quantities of donated items on the donation bag and registering them via QR code.
Park Hyeong-seok, CEO and head of Mastern Investment Management's Social Contribution Task Force, said, "This campaign is meaningful because each employee's small act of sharing comes together to create someone's job and provide a foothold for independent living. We will continue to work harder to create social value and fulfill our social responsibilities through sustained action rather than one-off events."
An IB industry official also said, "The ESG efforts of alternative investment managers are expanding beyond investment asset management to include internal social responsibility and employee participation," adding, "In particular, the fact that they have made employee-participation programs regular rather than relying on one-time donations can be seen as an example of linking organizational culture with ESG."
