Daegu City Goes All Out to Support Local Companies' Global Expansion

【Financial News, Daegu—Kim Jang-wook】Daegu Metropolitan City is going all out to support local companies' global expansion.
Daegu Metropolitan City will participate in CES 2027, which will be held in Las Vegas, the United States, from January 6 to 9, 2027. It has secured KRW 350 million in funding and will expand the CES 2027 Integrated Joint Pavilion.
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the world's largest advanced technology exhibition, bringing global companies, startups, investors and buyers together to share the latest technologies and trends in future industries. At CES 2026, more than 4,100 companies from 141 countries participated, and approximately 148,000 people visited the event.
Kim Tae-woon, head of the AI Innovation Growth Office, said, "CES is an important platform for local companies to showcase their outstanding technologies to the global market, identify global partners, and expand opportunities to attract investment and boost exports. We will actively support participating companies through the Integrated Joint Pavilion and full-cycle assistance so that they can achieve tangible results, such as expanding follow-up cooperation and business linkages and developing overseas sales channels."
The CES 2027 Integrated Joint Pavilion will be set up at The Venetian Expo with 22 companies and 30 booths. Centered on the Daegu joint brand, it will feature open-plan booths and experience and demonstration areas to enhance visibility and promotional impact while encouraging visitor participation and business consultations.
Considering the CES preparation schedule and the application period for the Innovation Awards, Daegu Metropolitan City proactively began recruiting and evaluating participating companies and companies receiving support for Innovation Awards applications before securing the supplementary budget. It selected 10 participating companies from among those overseen by Daegu Technopark and 12 companies receiving Innovation Awards support.
Participating companies will receive full-cycle support, including preliminary market analysis, buyer matching, investment presentations and networking, as well as follow-up management after the event. The city plans to turn consultation results into concrete outcomes such as memorandums of understanding, investment attraction and exports, using CES as a growth platform for local companies to test their potential for overseas expansion and secure global cooperation partners.
The city plans to finalize the detailed design and experiential content of the Integrated Joint Pavilion, then proceed with preparations for local participation, including pre-event meetings with participating companies, buyer identification and matching, joint promotion, and the transportation of exhibits.
Meanwhile, since establishing a joint pavilion at CES in 2017 as the first local government to do so, the city has operated it for the past 10 years as an overseas expansion platform to showcase local companies' outstanding technologies and products to the global market.
The CES 2026 Daegu Joint Pavilion featured 14 companies and 20 booths, generating 1,673 buyer consultations worth $59.37 million and six local contracts worth $430,000. After the event, the companies secured six follow-up contracts worth $630,000, won three CES Innovation Awards, and signed three memorandums of understanding.
